Join us for an inspiring panel featuring UC San Diego Global Health alumni who are now working across diverse fields — from health policy and community health to international development and research. Hear real stories about post-graduation career paths, lessons learned, and how their work is shaping healthier communities locally and globally. This is a great opportunity to explore career trajectories, ask questions, and make connections with fellow students, faculty, and alumni.
This event provides a forum for the Global Health community at UC San Diego to discuss relevant issues from an interdisciplinary perspective and increase community interaction. Don't miss the opportunity to engage with various organizations tabling at the event, offering resources and information to support your journey in Global Health.

We were delighted to have Dr. Thomas Csordas, Director of UC San Diego’s Global Health Program, moderating the event as our Master of Ceremonies.
Segen Zeray M.A.
Segen Zeray holds a B.A. and M.A. in Global Health from UC San Diego. Her academic work has focused on the health outcomes of displaced refugee youth, particularly those from East Africa impacted by war conflict. As a first-generation Eritrean American and former war refugee herself, she brings lived experience and a strong commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care, health equity, community education and engagement. She currently serves as a Project Manager in UC San Diego’s Refugee and Immigrant Health Unit within the Center for Community Health. In this role, she supports program development, implementation, data evaluation and community-based participatory research, as well as community outreach—often in partnership with the San Diego Refugee Communities Coalition (SDRCC)—across maternal and community health, behavioral health, youth-based and health advocacy initiatives.
Zoe Slipper, M.A., FPHW
Zoe is a Health Promotion Specialist focusing on sexual health and well-being in the Well-being & Health Promotion department at San Diego State University. Her work centers on contraception options counseling, sexually transmitted infections/diseases education, pregnancy options counseling, and ensuring equitable access to safer sex resources. She offers comprehensive one-on-one health education sessions and group presentations to empower SDSU undergraduate and graduate students in making informed sexual and reproductive health choices tailored to their unique life circumstances.
Zoe earned her bachelor’s degree in International Relations from UC Davis in 2022. In 2024, she graduated from UC San Diego with her Master of Arts degree in Global Health. Alongside her commitment to sexual and reproductive health promotion, Zoe is passionate about enhancing im/migrant health and well-being at the San Diego-Tijuana border through research and advocacy.
Outside of work, Zoe loves anything to do with music, art, and fashion. She loves to explore new ways to exercise her mind and body, read lots of books, practice new languages, and travel.
Andrea Villanueva, M.A.
Andrea Villanueva is a Manager of Implementations at Aya Healthcare, where she leads large-scale technology and staffing initiatives with hospital systems across the United States. She partners closely with clinical and executive leaders to improve operational workflows and patient-care delivery. Andrea previously worked in program management and health navigation roles supporting clients with complex health and social needs, and advancing community health initiatives in San Diego. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Global Health from UC San Diego, with a focus in project management. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys reading a good book, training in the gym, and traveling internationally.
